Buffalo State will conduct exit pool testing of the residential and commuter student population November 10—20, 2020, in accordance with fall semester wind-down guidance.
The plan’s timeframe is based on previous year’s patterns of students leaving campus for the Thanksgiving recess and the potential that some courses may move to remote instruction prior to the recess.
Students will be notified of their testing time assignment via electronic mail with periodic reminders. Attendance at appointments is tracked using a spreadsheet on which their participation is noted along with information necessary to track their specific pool test.
Students who do not attend their session will be contacted to participate in a makeup date and if they do not present will have a hold placed on their student registration for the spring 2021 semester.
Other reminders about testing will be conducted with notices on the campus COVID-19 information page and announcements posted in course websites in the Blackboard CMS. Faculty and staff will be provided information to reinforce this messaging via their academic and administrative department along with periodic in the campus Daily Bulletin news digest.
Students who live on campus will be provided a testing window based on their residence halls. Their time slot will be assigned by residence hall.
Students will show up to the designated location and complete their pool test. Should results for a building pool indicate a positive, students in that pool will be notified and individual testing conducted, and students instructed to isolate/quarantine based on a positive result or exposure to a positive case.
In the event no positives are in a pool those students will be notified and they will be allowed to express check out no later than 10 days after test results confirmed. days of their test.
