COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines for Buffalo State

Buffalo State's guidelines are based on the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New York State Department of Health, and SUNY.

The institution may adjust its health guidelines based on new scientific evidence and the course of the pandemic.

Vaccination requirements

Buffalo State students are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on their initial course of vaccinations and boosters consistent with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. While vaccines are not required at this time as a condition of enrollment, SUNY reserves the authority to change this policy at any time because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by Federal, State, or local authorities.
Buffalo State employees are strongly encouraged to stay up to date with their vaccinations, including getting a booster shot when eligible.
Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is not required to attend events at Buffalo State.

COVID-19 testing

Buffalo State will not require return-to-campus testing
If a student receives a symptomatic test, they must contact Weigel Health Center.

Masks

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are not required to wear masks in most settings, indoors or outdoors. Anyone who wishes to continue wearing a mask on campus is welcome to do so.

Students enrolled in any program or course, or who are participating in a clinical or internship at an off-campus location, must comply with all health and safety guidelines in place at the location, including any vaccination or testing protocols.

Monitor your health and stay home if you’re sick.
Students with a positive COVID-19 test should contact Weigel Health Center.
Employees with a positive COVID-19 test should follow the CDC’s current guidelines for preventing the spread of respiratory viruses. It does not have to be reported to HR but employees should notify their supervisor if they are not feeling well and unable to work.

Incidents of noncompliance with any Buffalo State protocols will be adjudicated through the college's Code of Conduct process for students and through the Human Resource Management Office for employees.
