Governor Cuomo has announced that all students planning to attend in-person classes at SUNY and CUNY campuses in fall 2021 will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19. The requirement is contingent on full FDA approval of the vaccines—which is expected this summer—and approval by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
Buffalo State students will receive additional information this summer about the process for submitting proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Weigel Wellness Center.
All adults in New York State are eligible to make appointments for the Pfizer (age 12+ are now eligible), Moderna (age 18+ are eligible), and Janssen—Johnson & Johnson (age 18+ are eligible) vaccines at state-run or county-run vaccination sites, or at area pharmacies such as Wegmans or Walgreens. The best vaccine is the vaccine you can get as soon as possible.
For those who did not participate in a campus clinic in April, we strongly encourage all students to schedule their vaccine appointments as soon as possible and to do their part to protect themselves, their families, and their communities. By working together, we will all be able to enjoy a safe, healthy, and vibrant in-person experience this fall.
As we wrap up the spring semester, please continue to wear a mask, avoid large gatherings, and participate in the final week of COVID-19 surveillance testing.
