Updated Message to Resident Students (March 25)
To Buffalo State Parents and Family Members:
While we’re dealing with rapidly changing developments due to precautions against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), please know your children’s health and success are our foremost priority.
We realize that Governor Cuomo’s announcement of all SUNY schools switching to remote instruction following spring break has been a lot to absorb. I’m sure this decision raises many questions in your mind about the remainder of the spring semester.
To help disseminate information quickly, we have created a new Coronavirus Information website to share updates and resources with our campus community. On it, you will find a new frequently asked questions section. We will continue to update and expand the FAQs in the coming days as we learn more from SUNY and establish protocols for this temporary shift in our operations.
Right now, I can tell you if you have a child or family member living on campus who does not wish to leave for spring break or the remainder of the semester, he or she has the option of remaining on campus. Our staff members communicated with resident students that our residence halls will remain open for students who wish to remain on campus. All campus support services and offices will remain open to assist students throughout the extended spring break and semester.
At the same time, our Residence Life team also is here to help students who want to return home ahead of the switch to remote instruction. We are committed to supporting you in whatever avenue you feel is the best choices for your child.
During this unprecedented and uncertain time, remember that our faculty and staff are doing all that they can to support your children and help them finish out the semester.
Sincerely,
Katherine Conway-Turner
President
Buffalo State College
