Fellow Bengals:
Over the course of the past several weeks, we have all come to understand that our approach to life both on and off campus will remain in a state of constant change as the COVID-19 crisis progresses. As the virus continues to spread and authorities indicate that this period of uncertainty will last months, not weeks, difficult decisions must be made in an effort to protect us all.
As such, I have decided that we must reschedule our spring 2020 Commencement ceremonies to a date and format yet to be determined.
Please be assured, if you are on track to complete your degree this spring, you will graduate and go on to do amazing things in this world. But unfortunately, we must postpone our celebration together until a later time.
I wish I could provide you with a specific date and format now, but given the anticipated progression of the public health crisis we face, it would be premature to select a new date at this time. We will continue to evaluate information as we receive it and communicate a decision once we can better assess the situation.
Commencement is one of our most cherished traditions, and I remain fully committed to celebrating the achievements of our graduates with their families and our entire campus community. While I realize that some of you may not be able to attend in person once we establish a new date, we are exploring ways to celebrate you and your wonderful accomplishments in another format.
Please know that we—the faculty, staff, and administration at Buffalo State College—are so very proud of you and your accomplishments, and we are determined to honor you appropriately when the time comes.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support and understanding. We are here for you. Be well, Bengals.
Sincerely,
Katherine Conway-Turner
President, Buffalo State College
