Update: January 27, 2021, 10:00 a.m.
Dear Student:
As we prepare for the start of the spring semester, the Coronavirus Information website will continue to be the clearinghouse where you can find important updates, requirements, resources, and frequently asked questions related to Buffalo State’s management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please make sure to complete your Daily Symptom Tracker as you will be required to present your green dot upon entering the Student Union.
1. live on campus, or
2. take at least one class on campus, or
3. utilize services on campus (e.g. library, gym, dining), or
4. work on campus
Must:
Present evidence of a negative PCR COVID-19 test* taken within three (3) days prior to return. Submit negative results.
OR
Participate in on-campus COVID-19 testing as soon as possible but no later than five (5) days of returning to campus. Please note that weekly pool testing begins February 1, so you will still be required to test the first week of classes even if you have submitted test results from an off-campus test (above). Your pool testing dates and times will be emailed to your Buffalo State email.
OR
Present documentation of a positive diagnostic result for COVID-19 from the prior 3-month period (i.e. November 1, 2020, to January 30, 2021). Submit postivie results.
Please note, you will not need to participate in the pool testing until 3 months after you tested positive. We will contact you with your pool testing dates and information once your 3-month period is up.
*Please note that antigen (rapid) testing will not be accepted as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
Students must also inform the campus of any known contacts with COVID-19 positive individuals, or of any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, or of a positive test result for COVID-19 (this notification to campus should not replace reporting to a health care provider or local health department).
Buffalo State is committed to regular testing of our campus community as mandated by SUNY.
The college is required to conduct regularly scheduled pool tests for 100% students that attend in-person classes or utilize campus services in-person on a weekly basis. You will be contacted via your Buffalo State e-mail when you are to report for pool tests.
If you are coming to campus to utilize services and are not on campus each week, you must test the week you are coming to campus.
As a reminder, if you are a commuter student with a 100-percent remote schedule and will not come to campus under any circumstance for the spring 2021 semester, you are exempt from weekly pool testing.
If you are in quarantine or symptomatic, please do not come to pool test.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic creates a fluid situation that may require unexpected changes in our response. Updates to scientific knowledge, public health guidance, or laws and regulations may mean SUNY and Buffalo State have to make changes to our standards and rules, including those indicated above. SUNY and Buffalo State will try to minimize these changes and their impact. We will keep you informed of new developments.
Thank you in advance for everything you are doing and will do to make 2021 safe for you, your fellow students, the campus community, and beyond.
